Maigari Ahmadu, the Minister of State for Steel Development, has reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to rejuvenate the nation’s steel industry, aiming to bolster the economy, create job opportunities, and accelerate the pace of industrialization.
This was disclosed by Ahmadu during a visit to the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, on Friday, at the Governor’s Lodge in the Amawbia, Awka area of the state.
He noted that he identifies the state as a “core of industrial advancement in the country.”
After a preliminary inspection of the facilities at the Metallurgical Training Institute in Onitsha, the Minister expressed optimism that both the federal and state governments would collaborate to boost interest in skill acquisition and work with the institute to alleviate poverty.
He shared that the visit represented his first facility tour during his tenure, underscoring that it was the consequence of a meticulously planned agenda.

He said, ‘The present administration is passionate about the steel sector. The MTI, Onitsha would get serious attention under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu while thinking outside the box within their limited resources.’
On welcoming the Minister, Soludo lauded the current administration for focusing on essential priorities.
He also voiced confidence that the present government would implement measures to unlock the nation’s immense potential.
Previously, the Director and Chief Executive of MTI, Onitsha, Bode Fakuade, requested greater government support for the Institute, emphasizing the need for additional infrastructure and funding.
Fakuade underscored that investment in funding and infrastructure would substantially improve the skills of the youth, leading to the resolution of social unrest.
