Manchester City gaffer, Pep Guardiola has sent a word of warning to the club’s rivals that it would be a mistake to write them off this earlier as far as this season’s Premier League title race is concerned.
Africa Today News, New York reports that City will return to action against Everton on Wednesday after returning from Saudi Arabia where they won the Club World Cup, their fifth trophy of 2023.
They’ve only won one of their last six league games, slipping to fifth in the table, but Guardiola suggested it would be foolish to doubt a team which has won the title in five of the last six years.

‘This is the business,’ Guardiola said. ‘When you don’t win you are nothing, zero. As much as you win they want you to fail more than ever. But what we have won, the titles, is unbelievable.’
In another report, popular British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has reached an agreement that will see him buy a 25 percent stake in Manchester United for a reported £1.25 billion ($1.6 billion) and will take control of the Premier League club’s football operations.
Ratcliffe who is the chairman of petrochemicals giant INEOS, will also provide substantial funds for future investment in the club’s Old Trafford stadium.
A club statement which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York said Ratcliffe ‘will acquire 25 percent of Manchester United’s Class B shares and up to 25 percent of Manchester United’s Class A shares and provide an additional $300 million intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford’.
‘As part of the transaction, INEOS has accepted a request by the board to be delegated responsibility for the management of the club’s football operations,’ it added.
Ratcliffe said he wanted to see the struggling 20-time English champions back on top of European football and committed himself for the long term.
