Nigeria’s immediate former President, Muhammadu Buhari has explained why the decision of his successor, President Bola Tinubu to increase the price of petrol made him happy.
Africa Today News, New York understands that there were several attempts by Buhari to remove the fuel subsidy but all those moves only managed to hit the brick wall.
However, the former Nigerian leader made his feelings known at the annual dialogue of Katsina Consultative Forum (KCF) held at the weekend.
According to him, he thought with the removal of fuel subsidy, visitors to his house in Daura would reduce.

But he said it was not so as Nigerians contribute money to fuel their vehicles to pay homage to him.
“I’ve seen the good and bad side of Nigeria; I thanked God I have now settled at home and people are coming to pay homage daily.
“I was happy when Tinubu increased the petrol pump price, thinking that will reduce the number of people visiting me at home, but they later resorted to organising themselves to raise funds to barge into my house,” he said.
In another report, the Nigerian Bar Association has reflected on the prevalent specter of insecurity that cast a shadow over many parts of the country in 2023.
Expressing deep concern about the prevailing insecurity, NBA President Yakubu Maikyau, in a statement on Tuesday, implores President Bola Tinubu to accord greater priority to safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens in 2024.
Maikyau strongly condemns the Christmas Eve attacks in Plateau State, denouncing the tragic loss of over 100 lives.
He noted that the attack could be a result of “poor intelligence gathering or a deliberate failure to act.”
Maikyau, however, called on the president to ensure that no space is left ungoverned in the country.
