The former Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi will today (Sunday) in an address point the way forward for Africa at Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah Independence Square.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the occasion tagged “Igniting the Voice of Africa” Convention and hosted by the New Africa Foundation, serves as a platform for African leaders to reflect on the continent’s developmental trajectory, aiming to set a course for the future.
Aligned with Ghana’s inauguration day, the event seeks not only to assess leadership but also to foster unity among Africans towards a shared vision of progress.

In addition to Obi, other leaders such as Julius Makema (South Africa), P. Lumumba (Kenya), and Dr. Arikana (Zimbabwe) will also deliver speeches. They are expected to emphasize effective leadership and the involvement of youths in advancing one of the Foundation’s core objectives, which is contributing to Africa’s development.
Recall that Obi had earlier appealed to Christians to keep praying for the growth and development of the country.
Obi, who spoke when he paid a Christmas visit to an oil mogul, Dr. Michael Onuoha, at his Casa De Gracia country home at Umunakara community, Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, on Wednesday, called on Christians not to lose hope in the Nigerian project.
Describing the billionaire oil magnate as his family friend, the former governor of Anambra State explained that his visit was to felicitate with the Onuoha family in the Yuletide season.
‘This is a private visit. I am here to see my friend, High Chief (Dr.) Michael Onuoha (Eriri Ego Ndi Igbo) and his family but I am surprised many people came out to receive me. I will visit again.
‘As Christians, we will not lose hope. This season is very significant and we must keep praying for our country, Nigeria. This season signifies love. We must show love to people and to our dear country, Nigeria. To my dear brother, Chief (Sir) Michael Onuoha, your beautiful family and kinsmen, thank you for hosting me. I will visit again.’
Responding, the oil magnate thanked Obi for finding time to visit, stressing that the ex governor’s humility had continued to distinguish him among other Nigerian leaders.
