A tragic accident claimed the lives of at least 25 individuals in the northeastern region of Brazil’s Bahia State, when a bus collided with a truck, as disclosed by state firefighters on Monday.
In the hushed hours of the night, a video brought to light a truck surrounded by scattered blue boxes loaded with mangoes, with firefighters diligently working at the scene.
‘Military firefighters responded to an incident that left 25 dead’ about 155 miles (250 kilometres) from the capital of Bahia State, Salvador.

Brazilian press reports documented that five individuals suffered injuries in the accident on Sunday night, accompanied by images depicting the contorted fuselage of the truck.
The root cause of the accident remains a mystery. Authorities have entrusted the task of identifying the victims to the police, who now hold the bodies.
The mayor’s office of Jacobina, a city close to the accident, declared three days of official mourning on Monday and is preparing a “collective wake” for the victims.
‘The prefecture expresses its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims in this moment of unprecedented sadness and pain,’ it said in a note posted on Instagram.
The recent bus crash, claiming multiple lives, is the latest in a series of unfortunate incidents in Brazil. Last August, the nation was shaken by the loss of seven fans from Sao Paulo-based Corinthians on a southeast country highway after attending a match against Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte.
In March 2022, southern Brazil became the site of a devastating accident as a bus transporting workers veered off a highway, claiming the lives of at least 10 individuals and leaving two dozen others injured.
