The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has hit out at his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari saying he left him with a lot of battles and tasks which he is currently working to fix.
Tinubu asserted that the former president left behind a lot of liabilities and assets for him.
He spoke on Tuesday, at the book launch titled: “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser Media and Publicity (2015–2023),” authored by Femi Adesina, Buhari’s former spokesman.
Addressing Buhari, Tinubu said: “When you left the office, you left many battles and a bunch of tasks for me for continuity.
“And I told people I inherited the assets and liabilities of my predecessor, no matter what you say.

“We always joke sometimes, and you say you can never please Nigerians, but yours is to focus, work hard, and satisfy your conscience. You have done that. It is reflected.”
Meanwhile, the President hailed Buhari saying that he has shown no inclination to interfere in his administration since stepping down from government in 2023.
“After handing over, you (Buhari) said, ‘I will be far away in Daura but if you need me, contact me. I won’t intrude on whatever you are doing. I won’t interfere. I won’t breathe down on your throat’.
Tinubu said rather than interfere, Buhari has partnered with him to make democracy flourish in the country.
‘Except when I call him (on the phone) to say, ‘Are you living, are you going to the farm?’, you don’t hear from him (Buhari) either to nominate or intrude in the cabinet or complain about issues. Thank you for being who you are,’ the President said.
Tinubu, once again, expressed his dedication to resolving outstanding challenges from his predecessor’s administration, with a commitment to eradicating insecurity nationwide.
