The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has dismissed the viral reports that its warehouse was looted by some hoodlums in Abuja on Sunday, stressing that the facility does not belong to the agency.
Mr. Manzo Ezekiel who is the spokesperson of NEMA, in a statement on Sunday, confirmed that the looted warehouse is not affiliated with the agency, but sympathised with the owners of the looted facility.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that on Sunday, some residents of Abuja raided a warehouse belonging to the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture, looting foodstuffs and other items stored in the facility.
The FCT Agric secretariat’s Public Relations Officer, Zakari Aliyu, confirmed to reporters that the looted warehouse belonged to their agency.

He, however, did not disclose further details on the looted warehouse.
NEMA said it has taken measures to safeguard its facilities nationwide.
“To forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the Agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” NEMA said.
In another report, Mr. Nyesom Wike who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has expressed satisfaction with the work being done by contractors in the nation’s capital, reiterating that no ongoing project would be abandoned.
Wike explained that the projects that are considered as priority have been included in the FCT’s 2024 statutory budget for adequate funding.
Ongoing projects in the territory include the provision of Wuye District infrastructure, the FCT Highway 105 (11km six lane dual carriageway) linking the Airport Expressway to Kuje and the official residence of the Vice President.
Speaking on the projects, Wike said he was very happy with the speed and quality of work and commended the contractors.
