According to the Defence Headquarters, over the past week, military forces have eliminated 106 terrorists and apprehended 103 individuals involved in various operations across the nation.
Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, delivered this statement during an update on the ongoing operations in Abuja on Friday.
Buba also mentioned that the military forces apprehended 22 individuals involved in oil theft and successfully rescued 96 kidnap victims.
He further stated that the troops recovered a total of 171 assorted weapons and seized 2,452 rounds of ammunition throughout the operations.
‘The breakdown comprised 47 AK47 rifles, one PKT gun, 18 pump action rifles, 17 locally fabricated guns, 14 dane guns, 12 locally fabricated pistols, one fabricated revolver, one hand grenade, 81mm mortar bomb, one mortar tube and four bandoliers
‘Others are: 995 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 468 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 317 live cartridges, 125 rounds of 9mm ammo, 313 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 13 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm, 19 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, 167 empty shells of 7.62mm special ammo, 45 empty shells of 7.62mm NATO and 72 empty cases of cartridges.
‘They also include 14 magazines, 10 vehicles, 23 motorcycles, 19 mobile phones, one bicycles, four baofeng radios, and the sum of N112,920, amongst other items,’ he said.
In the North East, Buba reported that the troops of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 38 Boko Haram/ISWAP militants, freed 16 kidnapped hostages, and seized multiple weapons and ammunition throughout the week.
According to his statement, between March 13 and March 19, within the theater of operations, a sum of 46 insurgents, comprising eight men, 14 women, and 24 children, surrendered to the troops.

In the North Central area, Buba disclosed that the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke successfully eliminated seven violent extremists, apprehended 27 suspects, rescued eight kidnap victims, and seized a substantial quantity of weapons.
In the North West region, he reported that the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 31 terrorists, apprehended 13 others, rescued 56 kidnapped hostages, and seized a significant stockpile of arms and ammunition.
Furthermore, he underscored that during the week, the forces of Operation Whirl Punch apprehended nine violent extremists/terrorists and carried out the successful rescue of 19 kidnap victims.
Buba reported that the forces of Operation Delta Safe, operating in the Niger Delta region, uncovered and dismantled 40 illicit refining facilities accompanied by 51 dugout pits, 17 boats, 21 cooking ovens, three pumping machines, 15 storage tanks, and four vehicles.
Additionally, Buba mentioned that the military units retrieved 772,350 liters of pilfered crude oil, 80,530 liters of unlawfully refined AGO, and 1,500 liters of DPK during the week.
Within the South East, Buba revealed that the troops deployed under Operation UDO KA successfully identified and eliminated an IED manufacturing facility located in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra.
He added that the troops conducted a successful operation in Enugu North Land, rescuing five kidnapped victims and recovering a vehicle.
