Clearing Explosives Post-War Claims Two Iranian Guards’ Lives

Iranian media reported on Sunday that two members of the Revolutionary Guards lost their lives while trying to dismantle explosives in the country’s western region, which had been targeted by Israeli airstrikes last month.

The incident comes in the aftermath of a 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran that erupted following Israeli bombing raids on June 13. Israel maintained that its strikes were necessary to halt Tehran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons, a claim that Iranian authorities have repeatedly rejected.

Tasnim news agency, citing a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said that “two members of the Guards were killed Sunday in Khorramabad while clearing the area of explosives left by the Zionist regime’s aggression.”

During the recent conflict, Israeli airstrikes claimed the lives of several high-ranking members of Iran’s armed forces, including senior Revolutionary Guards officers and prominent nuclear scientists.

According to figures released by Iran’s judiciary, the strikes resulted in more than 900 deaths across the country. In retaliation, Iranian missile attacks killed at least 28 people in Israel, based on official Israeli data.

State media reported that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made his first public appearance since the outbreak of hostilities on Saturday, attending a religious ceremony in Tehran.

Authorities also announced on Thursday that the country’s airspace, including routes over the capital, had reopened after being closed since the onset of the conflict.
