Manchester City Blocks Savinho’s Move To Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitions to sign Brazilian winger Savinho have hit a wall, Manchester City have made it clear the 21-year-old will not be sold this summer. Despite repeated advances, Spurs remain on the back foot.

Savinho, who joined City in July 2024 and impressed last season—appearing in 48 matches across all competitions—has drawn strong interest from Spurs. The player himself is eager for a move, according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Tottenham are willing to break their transfer record and bid north of €70 million (around £60.5 million).

Yet, City’s stance is firm. Guardiola sees Savinho as a vital part of his squad and has rejected offers as high as £60 million—or even closer to £70 million—citing his importance and the lack of a ready replacement . Financially, City is under no pressure to sell; an analyst notes they’ve generated nearly £160 million in profit over the past two seasons, reinforcing their ability to retain key talent.

Reports also link the block to City’s earlier failed pursuit of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo—suggesting Savinho’s departure was contingent on that deal, which collapsed when Rodrygo reaffirmed his commitment to Madrid.

For Tottenham, this is a significant setback, especially amid injury concerns and limited time before the transfer window closes . The club is now exploring alternatives, with Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche emerging as a compelling and more affordable option—valued around £47.5 million, significantly below City’s valuation of Savinho.
