Nuno Espirito Santo Sacked By Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Nuno Espírito Santo, just three matches into the 2025–26 Premier League season. The decision follows escalating tensions between Espírito Santo and club owner Evangelos Marinakis, as well as the newly appointed global head of football, Edu. The club cited “recent circumstances” as the reason for the dismissal.

Espírito Santo joined Forest in December 2023, succeeding Steve Cooper. In his first full season, he led the team to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League, securing their first European qualification in 30 years. Despite these achievements and a contract extension until 2028, relations with the club’s hierarchy deteriorated. The manager publicly acknowledged communication breakdowns and dissatisfaction with the club’s transfer activity.

Ange Postecoglou, recently dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur despite securing a Europa League title, is reportedly the leading candidate to replace Espírito Santo. Postecoglou’s personal connection with Marinakis, strengthened by their shared Greek heritage and past praise from the owner, positions him as the preferred successor.

Forest are currently 10th in the Premier League standings and are set to face Arsenal next. The club will be looking to appoint a new head coach swiftly to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
