The removed Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio is behind yesterday’s ruling of the Appeal Court which removed him from office.
Abbo, who was reacting to the court’s ruling, claimed that four other senators who worked against the emergence of Akpabio as Senate President had been targeted for removal from the Senate through the court.
The ousted Senator made the claim in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

Abbo specifically mentioned Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC Abia North) as the next target for removal from the Senate.
‘I have it from a reliable source that myself and four other senators within the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be removed from the Senate through rulings from the courts, all because of working against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.
“I won’t mention the names of all the four other ones targeted but the next in line is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu,” he said.
“The court judgement is strange and the judiciary needs to please remain the last hope of the common man,” Abbo added.
Meanwhile, Senator Akpabio, has strongly rejected claims by Senator Abbo that he (Akpabio) influenced the judgment of the Court of Appeal that sacked him from the Senate.
Akpabio, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and official Spokesperson, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, in a statement issued on Tuesday morning, expressed shock at the assertions of the former Adamawa North Senator, describing his claims as delinquent, provocative and unbecoming of a distinguished Senator.
“It is only a diseased and uninformed mind that will not believe that the outcome of any court proceeding is a function of the evaluation of facts and evidence within the province of the rule of law.
“It is uncharitable for Senator Abbo to pour his frustrations on Senator Akpabio or anyone else and his action betrays the bile he has for Senator Akpabio.
“Democracy is founded in the rule of law, so for anybody to accuse one of the strong agents of democracy and governance in the mould of Senator Godswill Akpabio, such an individual must be a monument of self-pity and his swansong a discordant escape from reality,” he stated.
Continuing, Hon. Eyiboh added: “Senator Akpabio for emphasis has no ill-will towards any of his distinguished colleagues and as he has said in the past, the embers of the leadership election have been buried and replaced by the fraternal bond of nation building he shares with the overwhelming majority of Senators.”
Africa Today News, New York recalls that the Court of Appeal voided Abbo’s election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The court presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme ruled that Amos Yohanna, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, platform, is the validly elected lawmaker for the senatorial district.
