As the rate of domestic violence and matrimonial conflicts in Nigeria continues to increase, there has also been a parallel increase in the cases of Women stabbing their husbands in their sleep inflicting fatal or near-fatal injuries to the men involved. A popular reference is the case of Maryam Sanda who violently impaled her husband severally in his sleep leading to the young man’s untimely demise.
A recent incident occurred in Owerri, Imo State in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Mr. Jude Mmadu who was deeply resting from the previous day’s hard work was rudely awoken by a sharp pain on his upper torso. Jolted by the pain, he sprang up and saw his wife staring down on him, not out of love but with a devilish intent to put him back to rest, this time forever.
His quick realisation and sharp reflexes saved him from the last assault from his wife as the knife missed his jugular by whiskers.
Bleeding, unarmed and unable to defend himself, he quickly sauntered of the room in just his underwear and took the next available cab at that ungodly hour to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri.
It was later realised that the attempt to snuff out his life was because of meer suspicion of extra-marital affairs.
