Filmmaker, actor, musician and writer, Tarila Thompson was a guest on the ‘Wake Up Nigeria’ show today on Nigeria’s top-rated urban and entertainment television station, TVC.
The number one family entertainment lifestyle show which saw Tarila Thompson talk about his directorial debut, his filmography, and personal life was hosted by celebrity voice over artist and OAP, Mazino Appeal.

When asked about his breakout movie, In the Creek, Tarila explains the work and efforts put into the actualisation of the movie and he also explains why the movie was an international hit in its time. He talks about his inspiration for the movie and how it showcases life in the Niger Delta, the exploitation of its resources, and the resistant movements in form of militants. He also reveals the major issues he had during the production of the movie such as security and crew alignment. He reveals how his cast of real-life militants helped a great deal on the production set.
Tarila Thompson also shared his thoughts on Niger-Delta militancy and the exploitation of resources in the Niger-Delta. He talks about how they have been long neglected by the Government which led to violence in the region. He talks about how the Government made the right move in granting them amnesty and reintegrating them into the major scope of affairs in the country. He also blames corrupt Niger-Delta leaders as being one of the reasons why there is still suffering and under-development in the region.
He finalised by asking the Government to take a put in more effort in the state of affairs of the Niger-Delta region to discourage the re-emergence of these rogue militancy groups. He also talked about the importance of giving Niger-Deltans a good platform to be able to open up on the major issues in the region so it would be easier to tackle them.
