President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, asked the Senate to confirm Justice Salisu Abdullahi as substantive Chief Judge of the High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The request was contained in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
According to the statement, the nominated Chief Judge had been acting in that capacity prior to the nomination.
Adesina said the president requested Section 256 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
President Buhari made the request in a letter dated April 1, 2021.
He urged the Senate to do the confirmation, ‘in the usual expeditious manner.’
