Bandits Attack Niger, Abduct Four Persons

No fewer than four persons were kidnapped last night after bandits invaded Tegina again, a village in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the bandits, who came in their numbers, were well armed with AK47s and attacked the sleepy village in great numbers.

They arrived in the town at about 9 pm and went to a sachet water factory directly opposite Government Girls’ Secondary School and kidnapped the factory owner and three others.

‘They took us unawares because they came on foot. We just heard gunshots and we ran for our lives. They went to the sachet water factory where four persons were taken away,’ one of the sources said.

When contacted the Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Kuryas confirmed the incident.

He however revealed that one of those kidnapped managed to escape and is now helping law enforcement agents with key details.

He also stated that the police are on top of the situation to get those involved arrested as soon as possible.

In a related development, at least nine persons were killed when bandits attacked Tungar Ruwa Village located in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The gunmen also rustled livestock, burgled shops, and carted away foodstuff, among other valuables.

Sources who confirmed the attack to reporters narrated that the gunmen invaded the town on Wednesday night and started shooting sporadically, leading to the death of nine locals and several others injured.
