2023: Buhari Fires Strong Warning To 'Election Riggers'
President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a fresh warning to any group of people planning to rig or manipulate the 2023 general elections to perish such thought, while assuring them that his government would use every legitimate means at her disposal to protect the votes of Nigerians and ensure credible elections.

The President made this vow on Thursday in Abuja while hosting some respected members of the Diplomatic Corps to an Iftar dinner at the States house.

Speaking at the dinner, President Buhari also issued a warning against foreign interference in the forthcoming elections which is billed to hold in February 2023.

‘Those planning to rig the forthcoming elections should think twice because I intend to resolutely protect and defend the sacred will of the Nigerian people, to be expressed through the ballot box,’ he stressed.

Africa Today News, New York reports that Buhari has often pledged his commitment towards ensuring free, fair and credible elections in 2023.

He went on to add that; ‘As you are all aware, the tenure of this administration ends on May 29, 2023. Typical of election years all over the world, the tempo of political activities is often high.

‘That is the nature of democracy. I am committed to bequeathing a stronger culture of credible elections to Nigeria than I met.

‘As Nigeria goes through this trajectory, I urge our friends in the global community, represented by you the Diplomatic Corps, to adopt a positive role that reinforces the doctrine of respect for our internal affairs and respect for facts and devoid of preconceived notions and bias,’ he said.

The President has so far remained neutral in the scheme of things as regards who succeeds him on May 29th, 2023 although he had earlier in the year admitted to having a favourite candidate in an interview.
