2023: NOA Advocates Equity, Justice For Hitch Free poll

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra Directorate, has called on various relevant organisations in charge of election matters to ensure equity, equal right and justice for hitch free polls in 2023.

The Anambra Director, NOA, Mr Charles Nwoji, made the call in a statement by Mr Anthony Obiorah, Media Relation Officer of the agency in Awka on Saturday.

Nwoji said that the stakeholders and personnel in charge of election matters in the country needed to take the 2023 General Elections very seriously and plan well ahead of the electioneering period.

He said that plans to perfect their capacities and gadget’s in readiness for the election in the country as Nigerians deserved smooth and peaceful elections devoid of security and logistics challenges come 2023.

In a related development the NOA team played host to the Anambra State Chairman Civil Liberty Organisation body, led by Mr Vincent Ezekwueme on a courtesy visit to his office.

Ezekwueme said that the civil liberty organisation paid a visit to NOA to support the advocacy on equity, equal rights and justice by the management for the current socio-economic and political happenings in the country.

He said that the visit to the organisation was based on its partnership towards building a new Nigerian society with its taproots deeply rooted in egalitarian society, rule of law, justice, constitutionality and equity.

He urged NOA to aggressively intensify campaigns against domestic violence, child abuse, cultism, youth’s restiveness and voter apathy in the state.

Ezekwueme urged NOA to enlighten and educate the Anambra public to be alive to their civil responsibilities through town hall meetings in the state.

Responding, Nwoji said that NOA operated an open door policy and were ready to partner with other agencies, organisations and institutions towards sensitising the general public on its human oriented programmes lined up for the year.

“NOA desires to have partners, especially on all the matters that are related with the 2023 general elections and other immediate awareness that would promote peace and unity of the nation.

“The Civil Liberty Organisation has made a very good name in Nigeria, noted that many Civil Rights Protection Organisations that exist in the country today passed through the tutelage of the Civil Liberty organisation.

“NOA would want to work with an organisation with the same mind set and urged the body not to relent in its social service but maintain such exalted credibility in the country for development of the nation.

Nwoji said that  the organisation had done a lot on creating awareness on human rights and promotion of human liberty in the country, and added that the issue of civil rights is part of what NOA preaches to the general public.

He said that NOA advocates peace, safety, people’s obligations and responsibilities to their fatherland to build a healthy society.

Nwoji urged the wealthy Nigerians and Non- Governmental Organizations to partner with government agencies in actualising their mission in the growth and development of the nation.

He identified paucity of funds as some of the negative factors that militate against the smooth execution of the activities of the Agency in the State and Nigeria in general.

He pointed out that the agency had before now made efforts to sensitize people on the need for patronage of made in Nigeria goods and services.

“We have had aggressive sensitisation of the general public on election matters over the years in the country, we have talked to the people to register for their voter’s card and also explained to them reasons to shun vote buying and political violence amongst others.

Nwoji, appealed to the organisation to key in the sensitisation of Anambra public on the importance for them to participate actively in political matters so as to have good judgement of the political activities and key in rightly.
