Turmoil As Police, PSC Lock Horns Again Over Recruitment

AIG Lawan Jimeta, the assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, zone 5, has given the successful candidates of the Nigerian Police Force 2021 recruitment exercise an assurance of a seamless screening exercise.

DSP Tijani Momoh, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPRO) in Benin put this out in a statement on Saturday.

According to Jimeta, the medical screening exercise for successful indigenes from Edo and Delta who applied for the 2021 recruitment of Police constables has been scheduled to take place between next Tuesday and May 23.

He also added that the exercise which would be conducted by the Nigerian Police medical services would take place daily from 8:30am to 2:45 pm, at the Magnus Eweka Police cottage hospital, Denis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, Benin.

He disclosed that candidates for the exercise have been scheduled in designated syndicates to avoid overcrowding and the spread of COVID-19. In this regard, the AIG said that the candidates were to visit the recruitment portal on www.policerecruitment.gov.ng to check and print out their medical screening slip.

He further said that qualified candidates were also expected to mandatorily come along with their letter of invitation (medical screening slip.

“They are also to come with their National Identity Card/slip, and appear in white T-shirt on white shorts, as well as adhere to stipulated COVID-19 prevention protocols and guidelines, including wearing of face mask”.

Jimeta gave assurance that the exercise would be conducted in the best tradition of transparency and professionalism.

Zone 5, comprises Edo and Delta.

Also, the Police have set date and venue for medical screening of candidates for constables’ recruitment, who scaled through the Computer Based Test (CBT), from Enugu State.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of Enugu State Police Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe on Saturday in Enugu.

“The Command wishes to inform indigenes of the state, who applied for 2021 Police Constables Recruitment and scaled through the CBT, that the automated medical screening stage has been scheduled to hold between May 18 and May 21, 2022.

“It will take place by 8a.m. daily at the Police Hospital, Central Police Station (CPS) Akwa, Anambra State, on the basis of their local government’s area of origin.

“Consequently, the candidates are advised to visit the recruitment portal on https://www.policerecruitment.gov.ng to check their Medical Screening Status.

“Qualified candidates are to print the medical screening slip bearing their respective date and time of the screening.

“They MUST compulsorily present the Printout, NIN slip and must appear in white T-shirt on white shorts at the venue of the exercise,” he said.

Ndukwe said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Lawal Abubakar, had congratulated qualified candidates of this penultimate stage of the recruitment process from the state.

The police spokesman said that the commissioner had also wished them success in the screening.
