In a fresh crackdown operation, the Kaduna State Police Command on Tuesday revealed that a combined team of operatives repelled some bandits’ attack on commuters along Kaduna-Abuja road.
In a statement which was signed by ASP Mohammed Jalinge who is the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, said the operatives rescued three kidnap victims and recovered eight bandits’ operational motorcycles.
“The Joint Police and Military Operation Puff Adder and Operation Thunder Strike intercepted a group of bandits at Sabon Sara village, attempting to gain access to the Kaduna-Abuja Highway,” he said.
According to the statement, the security operatives observed the suspicious movement of the bandits and exchanged fire arms just as the bandits escaped, leaving one of the abductees; a Chinese expatriate and two others.
He said the bandits also abandoned eight of their operational motorcycles.
He said the victims have been taken to a hospital for medical attention, while items recovered from the bandits are being analyzed.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Yekin Ayoku, applauded the commitment and synergy between the Police and other security agencies and encouraged officers at all levels to sustain the same for the interest of public safety.
In another similar report, The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have reported that there was no bandit attack in Gwarimpa Estate but a robbery attack contrary to reports in some sections of the media.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Josephine Adeh, who disclosed this in Abuja, yesterday, said the clarification became necessary, following reports making the rounds in some sections of the media that bandits attacked Gwarimpa Estate and abducted some residents.
“The Command wishes to set the records straight that on June 6, a distress call was received from Queens Efab Estate, Kasana, Galadima Area that there was an ongoing armed robbery operation.
“Operatives of the command attached to Galadima Divisional Headquarters swiftly responded and upon arrival at the estate, the robbers took to their heels.
“The gallant operatives, however, gave them a chase and in the process, they abandoned some of the items they had already stolen including some phones and laptops.”
Adeh said it was disheartening that some news platforms chose to trend false narratives without following the ethics and standards of balancing news material before publishing.
She reiterated the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Babaji Sunday, to ensure the safety of residents and swift response to all distress calls.
