The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have confirmed the arrest of persons alleged to have engaged in vote-buying in the Ekiti governorship election.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the EFCC is part of the security agencies deployed to monitor the election.
While parading some of the suspects at the Oke Ori Omi Area Division of the Nigerian Police Force, the suspects were said to have been caught with monies allegedly used to induce voters, an act the EFCC officials say were carried out surreptitiously.

The EFCC thereafter proceeded to burst into another residence where some persons were caught with a book containing details of voters of the certain voting area.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof Kayode Adebowale, and the Vice-Chancellor, the University of Ibadan, who announced the results said, “Oyebanji, having scored the highest number of votes is declared the winner and returned elected as the governor-elect of Ekiti State”
The APC scored 187,057 votes to defeat its closest rival, the SDP, which garnered 82,211 votes, the PDP, which got 67,457 votes and 13 other parties which participated in Saturday’s governorship election.
Out of the 360,753 votes cast, the total valid votes in the election were 351,865.
While the agent of SDP, Owoseeni Ajayi, did not sign the forms for the votes cast, the agent of the ADP, said, ‘Instead of having polling centres, what we have in Ekiti are vote-buying centres’.
As at 1:50am on Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has declared results of the exercise in all the 16 local government areas of the state.
