The Jigawa State Government in collaboration with the Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board in the State has announced that it has disbursed over ₦1.2 billion pension entitlements to 550 retirees.
Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu who is the Executive Secretary of the board had made this disclosure while he was briefing newsmen in Dutse on Monday.

He said the amount would also get to cover payments to workers who retired from service between March and June 2022, at the state, local government and the Local Education Authorities (LEAs).
Aliyu had also made full explanations that the payment included retirement benefit, death benefit, death pension balance and refund of eight per cent contribution.
The executive secretary revealed that 191 of the beneficiaries were from state service, 146 local governments and 214 from LEAs.
He said that N501 million would be disbursed to 191 beneficiaries from the state service, and N213 million to 145 beneficiaries from local government service while 214 beneficiaries of the LEAs to receive ₦500 million.
According to him, the board is up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees, including those who died in active service. He also reiterated the commitment of the state government towards improving the welfare of workers to enhance service delivery as well as wellbeing of retirees to enjoy a fulfilled life after service.
In another report, 1,438 corps members have been reportedly trained by the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), in Jigawa. The scheme had announced that the training session would be encompassing various income-generating skills in Jigawa State, under its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.
Mr Umar Muhammad who is the SAED’s Deputy Director in the state had made this announcement at the closing ceremony of the training on Saturday in Dutse.
Muhammad had reiterated that the beneficiaries, comprising 802 males and 636 females of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ stream I corps members, received the nine-day training in various income-generating trades.
He explained that the beneficiaries acquired different skills ranging from bricks and interlock production, electrical/solar installation, poultry/agro-allied, photography, automobile mechanic and leather work. They were also trained in design making, recharge card production, horticulture, make-up, cosmetology/toiletries, barbing, graphic design, food processing and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
