The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) on Wednesday debunked viral reports that Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, is missing following last week’s attack at Kuje prisons.
The NCoS also confirmed that the suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala (a.k.a. Wadume), is in custody.
The service said it was untrue that both men escaped during the July 5 jailbreak at Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja.
Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Chukwuedo Humphrey spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

The spokesman said the clarification became necessary in view of information circulating.
‘The story is false, reckless and mischievous. They are still in custody. Efforts are ongoing to recapture all fleeing inmates.
‘The Controller-General, NCoS, Haliru Nababa, is determined to continue to upscale inmates’ welfare and safety’, Humphrey added.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, head of New Media Anthony Ehilabo has made an open call to President Muhammadu Buhari to sack every official who is linked to the recent dastardly attack on the Kuje correctional center that led to a major prison break with many inmates unaccounted for.
Africa Today News, New York also recalls that on July 6, some of the terrorists who have been suspected to be Boko Haram fighters had attacked the medium correctional center in Abuja, killed at least two persons, while over 800 inmates were set free.
No fewer than 62 Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) fighters escaped the prison during the attack.
Some of the escaped terror suspects have, however, been recaptured from different places, including the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa and Niger States.
