Fresh CVR Sessions Hit 10.1m Nationwide - Report

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced in a new report that the total number of their new registrations in the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) session has hit a record 10.1 million.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday night via its social media platform.

According to the INEC, 10,139,247 registrants had completed their registrations, of which 3,357,188 were done online, while 6,782,059 were done via physical registration. It said that 5,022,392 of the registrants that completed their registrations were males; while 5,116,855 were females and 75,422 were Persons With Disabilities.

INEC added that the age distribution also showed that 7,195,676 of the registrants were youth of age 18 to 34; while middle-aged between 35 and 49 were 2,025,258.

The elderly aged 50 and 69 were 808,021 and the old from 70 and above were 110,292.

A total of 26,645,124 applications for voter transfer, requests for replacement of PVCs and updates of voter information records were also received.

The commission has fixed July 31 for the suspension of the CVR ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In another report, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reiterated that it is currently being burdened with a huge logistics nightmare on its hands which comes in form of transporting sensitive materials for the 2023 election.

Festus Okoye who is the Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee had made this announcement on Monday while appearing on Channels TV.

He had also added that the logistics used for Osun and Ekiti governorship election will not be sustainable for the 2023 general elections.

Okoye states that the electoral commission, INEC will have to review material storage and logistics with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to finalise its logistic pathway for sensitive materials to 36 states including the FCT.
