No ideological differences separate Atiku and I, claims Peter Obi
Peter Obi

According to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, there are no ideological disagreements between him and Abubakar Atiku, the nominee for the People’s Democratic Party.

Obi stated this during an interview on Arise TV Prime Time on Wednesday that our reporter watched.

Before Obi moved to the Labour Party earlier this year, the two presidential aspirants ran a combined ticket on the PDP platform in 2029.

In the 2019 presidential election, where incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari won, Obi served as Atiku’s running partner.

Obi replied that there was no difference in ideology between him and Atiku when questioned about it.

Their ideals and views are the same, in Obi’s opinion.

He continued by saying that Nigerians must decide which of the presidential candidates running in 2023 they trust the most.

‘As I have previously stated, there is no difference in the ideologies of any of the candidates. Our politics have not yet developed to the point where we have various ideologies, philosophies, and viewpoints.

‘We are at what you can call developmental level. So, there is not much difference. What we are competing today or what Nigerians think is the choice before them now is of all these people promising the same thing, who can we trust? So, what we are selling now is trust. What we are selling now is character,’ he said.

When asked if he had confidence in Atiku as his running mate in 2019, Obi responded, ‘I did.’

He, however, added that he would not like to dwell on the past.

That was yesterday, the past. So, for me, the past is gone. We are dealing with the future. Things have gotten worse. And at this stage, I think we can solve the problem. I don’t want to go into the past, he said.
