Elisabeth Borne who is the French Prime Minister has made her arrived in Algeria on Sunday and with her also came some top-level political delegates who are also coming for a visit which is aimed at improving some of the ties with the former French colony and major gas exporter.
Her two-day trip which is also coming along with 16 ministers and over a third of her government will be coming just six weeks after President Emmanuel Macron had also concluded a three-day visit that sought to end some months of tensions with Algiers.

Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane had also welcomed the delegation at the capital’s main airport.
Borne is expected to sign deals on economic cooperation, including energy — although deliveries of natural gas to France are “not on the table”, according to her office.
She was also set to lay a wreath Sunday at a monument which would be meant to honour some of the martyrs of Algeria’s eight-year war for independence, and visit a cemetery for French nationals who had also lived in Algeria during France’s 132-year rule, which ended in 1962.
Ties between the North African country and its former colonial ruler had also seen months of tensions after Macron last year questioned Algeria’s existence as a nation before the French occupation, accusing the government of fomenting “hatred towards France”.
But during his visit in August, Macron and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune drew a line under the spat.
In another report, the Super Eagles Head Coach, José Santos Peseiro, has invited team captain, Ahmed Musa; deputy captain, William Ekong; and 23 other players to take on former African champions, Algeria, in an international friendly match in the Algerian town of Oran on Tuesday, September 27.
Africa Daily News, New York reports that the three-time African champions, Nigeria and two-time African champions, Algeria, would clash at the 40,000 Stade Olympique in Oran on that day with the invited players expected to meet in Constantine on Monday, September 19.
The goalkeepers invited are Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, and Adeleye Adebayo.
