Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader, made it known that Ekiti State‘s construction of major roads would be supported by a ₦4bn allocation from the supplementary budget recently approved by the National Assembly.
According to him, the federal allocation represents a reinforcement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to advancing infrastructure in Ekiti State.
He stated that Ekiti State is poised to benefit enormously from the amended supplementary budget, as it enables President Bola Tinubu to address the country’s economic challenges and provide relief measures following the fuel subsidy removal.
Speaking at Ikogosi, Ekiti, on Saturday, following a service at the First Baptist Church to celebrate the 90th birthday of Ekiti State governor’s father, Pa Ezekiel Oyebanji, the federal lawmaker praised Pa Ezekiel for inculcating commendable qualities in his children.

Bamidele said, ‘Some of the new projects that were approved will be in overall best interest of Ekiti people. One of them is the sum of N2bn that was approved for the construction of Iyin-Ilawe Ekiti Road, which is something that we believe will connect not only the two communities, but will connect Ekiti Central Senatorial District with Ekiti South Senatorial District.’
‘These are all parts of the extension of the infrastructural development drives of Governor Oyebanji. He met with all of us and he gave us list of projects that were of utmost concern for him.’
The governor, Oyebanji, portrayed his nonagenarian father to be ‘a man who places great value on honesty, integrity, humility, hard work and self-discipline, virtues, which, he said, helped in shaping his personality.’
Pa Oyebanji, who just celebrated his 90th birthday, shared that his unwavering faith in education as a means to overcome poverty inspired him to pursue Western education. He passionately encouraged parents to prioritize investing in their children’s education.
