Jean-Pierre wouldn’t give further details on Biden’s masking plans for the G20 summit in New Delhi later this week or for alternative arrangements in case he tests positive for Covid ahead of or during the foreign trip.

“The president certainly is going to test on a regular cadence,” she said.

The United States has been experiencing a rise in Covid cases and hospitalizations in recent weeks.

Biden had over the weekend surveyed the destruction caused by Hurricane Idalia in the state of Florida but did not meet with Governor Ron DeSantis, a potential presidential rival, who opted not to come.

After conducting an aerial tour of Live Oak, a hamlet severely damaged by Idalia, and hearing from local leaders and first responders, Biden on Saturday offered assistance and sympathy to those affected.

He observed buildings with trees that had fallen on them and asserted that no “intelligent” person could deny the existence of climate change.
