The interior minister of Turkey has declared that the explosion outside the interior ministry in Ankara was an act of terrorism.
At roughly 09:30 (06:30 GMT), two individuals arrived in a car and executed the attack, causing injuries to two officers, according to Ali Yerlikaya.
Mr. Yerlikaya stated that an attacker self-detonated in front of a ministry building, while authorities “neutralized” the second individual.
It has been confirmed that a group linked to Kurdish insurgents is claiming responsibility for the attack.
In Turkey, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) holds the status of a terrorist organisation.
An explosion occurred on Ataturk Boulevard mere hours before the parliament was slated to reconvene.
The sequence of events was initiated when one of the attackers disembarked from the car and tossed a small explosive at the ministry building to create a diversion for security.
Afterwards, the second attacker began shooting at the guards near the ministry gate before setting off an explosive device strapped to his body, resulting in his demise.
Meanwhile, the first individual darted into the compound and met a swift demise at the hands of the police.

Two officers were hurt, with one being shot in the chest, and the other suffering injuries to both legs and an eye.
In his statement to reporters, Mr. Yerlikaya made it clear that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
A senior security official from Turkey, in conversation with the BBC, revealed that the attackers had seized control of their vehicle on Saturday in Kayseri, a city situated around 260 km (161 miles) to the southeast of Ankara.
According to accounts, they shot and fatally wounded the car’s driver, a 24-year-old veterinarian who was driving in the countryside.
The official mentioned that they were in the process of analyzing security camera footage from Kayseri all the way to the Syrian border to establish the suspects’ place of origin.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his parliamentary speech, labelled the attack as “the final flutters of terrorism.”
‘The vile people who took aim at the peace and security of our citizens did not reach their goal and they never will.’
