The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), have intercepted different contrabands worth ₦924m between August and October, the command has said.
The command, in a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Mailafiya Magaji, disclosed that it also intercepted 17 sacks containing 1,199 parcels of cannabis sativa totaling 663.5kg.
It stated that the Sanki Beach Axis and the Moba Waterways were the locations of the seizures.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Odaudu Salefu, said that the command also seized 66,000 capsules of 225mg tramadol and 1,257 bags of foreign parboiled rice, with a duty paid value of ₦50m.
Salefu added that the command seized 3,750 liters of premium motor spirit during two separate operations in October.
‘It is noteworthy that in August 2023, the command seized 103 sacks containing 8,240 parcels of cannabis sativa which was promptly handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

‘The cumulative value of the ten seizures conducted by the command from August to October amounts to N924m,’ he stated.
Salefu explained that the general public must respect and adhere to government fiscal policies, prohibitions, and restrictions.
According to him, ‘These measures are in place to safeguard national security, foster economic growth, and contribute to the overall progress of Nigeria.’
In another report, the Government of Lagos State has shut Quilox Restaurant Bar Night Club located in Victoria Island over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) stormed the club on Friday and immediately sealed it.
Mr. Tokunbo Wahab who is the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, to to his his X handle and wrote: ‘Quilox Club was earlier today sealed over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.’
Also, LASEPA, on its X handle said a major part of its advocacy efforts towards a conducive Lagos for all is to ensure compliance with the laid down regulations for noise control.
