Katsina Governor's Aide Attack: NCS Investigation Underway

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken action by initiating an investigation into the alleged attack on Malam Jabiru Tsauri, who serves as the Chief of Staff to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda.

In light of the reported attack on Malam Jabiru Tsauri, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) launched a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The statement regarding the investigation into the alleged attack on Malam Jabiru Tsauri was released on Sunday in Katsina by CS Tahir Balarabe, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Kaula, brought to public attention that on July 13, the victim was purportedly targeted in an attack by suspected individuals from the Nigeria Customs Service.

The governor’s aide raised allegations that the personnel deliberately targeted the victim at Gorar Yammama while he was on his way to Abuja.

‘Gov. Radda has vehemently condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.’

‘The safety and security of public officials and citizens remain of utmost importance, and any violation of this fundamental right will not be tolerated,’ the governor’s aide stated.

Balarabe, in response, acknowledged the report of the incident, expressing the Nigeria Customs Service’s deep concern about the ‘unfortunate event.’ He sympathised to both the victim and the Katsina government.

He noted that: ‘At the moment, a full investigation is ongoing to unravel the immediate and remote course of the incident, anyone found wanting will be made to face the full wrath of the law.’

‘As a reputable organisation, NCS frowns at any form of unprofessionalism on the part of its officers.’

‘Our officers are well-trained in handling firearms, and are expected to act by the rules of engagement spelt out in our book of instructions.’

‘We assure all well-meaning Nigerians, especially the good people and the government of Katsina State to go about their legitimate activities as the service will only sustain its onslaught against economic saboteurs and their accomplices while collecting maximum revenue that will be utilise for national development.’

The investigation is driven by the goal of identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the attack to ensure they face legal consequences.
