Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has reacted to the ₦500 million lawsuit slammed on her by Nigerian singer Naira Marley over alleged defamation of character.
In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo expressed her displeasure with the way the legal action was brought to her notice.
Africa Today News, New York recall that lawyers of Naira Marley, had demanded a public apology and ₦500m in damages citing a September 2023 Instagram post by Ojo, where she allegedly accused Marley of engaging in ‘spiritual and physical dealings’ with the late singer Mohbad and causing him ‘mental harm.’
Naira Marley claimed that the actress had published false and harmful content against him.
However, Iyabo Ojo, in response, filed a complaint against Naira Marley, claiming that he neglected to personally or by mail serve her with the case, raising worries about potential blackmail.

The actress demanded a sum of ₦1 billion from the singer for what she perceives as deliberately misleading the public.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that Naira Marley, had accused Iyabo Ojo of defamation and libel against him.
The singer is seeking a public apology from the actress and threatened to sue for N500 million if she does not apologise.
In a letter sent to Ojo, Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, outlined the accusations made in a September 2023 post, stating that the actress accused Naira Marley of engaging in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The lawyer also said the actress accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to the late singer.
Referring to some of Iyabo Ojo’s online posts, the lawyer representing Naira Marley asked that the actress publish an apology on her official Instagram account and in a national daily within seven days of receiving the letter, failure to do so would result in them commencing legal proceedings and they will demand damages of N500 million from the actress, and a court injunction refraining Iyabo Ojo from repeating similar libel.
