Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has inked a contract renewal with Napoli, extending his tenure with the club until 2026.
Napoli, the Italian champions, confirmed the contract extension of the African Footballer of the Year through a post on their official social media handle on Saturday.
‘Victor and Napoli together until 2026,’ said Napoli on social media, alongside a picture of the Nigerian international striker signing the new deal alongside club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Although Napoli has not officially shared details of the new contract, reports from Italian media indicate the incorporation of a release clause ranging between 120 million and 130 million euros ($132 million and $143 million). This measure is implemented to safeguard against the potential departure of their star player to Premier League clubs without ensuring a significant financial return.

Osimhen’s initial deal was set to expire in June 2025, and the renewal has been a prominent topic of discussion in Italy, especially following Napoli’s historic league title win last season—their first in over three decades.
Osimhen showcased his prowess by scoring 26 league goals under the departed coach Luciano Spalletti, as Napoli mesmerized Europe with an exhilarating style of play and secured the championship, a feat not achieved since Diego Maradona’s era.
Osimhen, acquired from Lille in 2020, has recorded a remarkable 67 goals in 118 appearances.
Despite this, Napoli finds themselves 14 points adrift of Serie A leaders Inter as they approach their upcoming match against Roma on Sunday night, having recently been eliminated from the Italian Cup by Frosinone.
