All Progressives Congress governors are urging Nigerians to reserve judgment on the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, and await the results of ongoing anti-graft investigations.
Africa Today News, New York, gathered that President Bola Tinubu issued a directive on Monday, tasking the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, to conduct a thorough investigation into all financial transactions linked to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Until her suspension by President Bola Tinubu on Monday, Betta Edu held the position of minister overseeing the ministry.
A leaked memo dated December 20, 2023, brought Edu into the spotlight as it disclosed her instruction to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer N585 million to the private account of Oniyelu Bridget, who the ministry claimed is the current Project Accountant for Grants for Vulnerable Groups.
Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressives Governor’s Forum and Imo State Governor, assured on Wednesday night in Abuja that the APC governors are resolute and united.
Uzodinma made a commitment that the APC governors will persist in backing Tinubu’s administration to bring the renewed hope agenda to fruition.
Addressing reporters post-meeting, Uzodinma highlighted that the gathering provided an opportunity to assess the national landscape and reach a consensus on the optimal approach for sustaining support for the leadership of President Tinubu.
