Reports reaching the desk of Africa Today News, New York has it that tragedy struck in Kaduna State on Saturday after an object suspected to be a bomb exploded in Kidandan Community in Giwa Local Council, leaving no fewer than 10 children injured.
People in the town fled for their lives as a result of the occurrence, which caused chaos for everyone.
The children were reportedly playing with an object they found in the jungle when the incident occurred late in the afternoon.
Sources in the community said that the object exploded and injured 10 children. The injured victims were reportedly rushed to Shika Hospital in Zaria for treatment.
The Village Head, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Ruka, confirmed the incident, saying he was trying to compile the names of the victims because the police had visited the community.

“Ten people were injured and no death was recorded but they were taken to the hospital for treatment. Right now I’m compiling their names,” he said.
Councillor representing Kidandan Ward, Abdullahi Ismail, who confirmed the incident, said the children picked the object in the bush where they went to fetch firewood.
“I was told the children picked the object in the bush when they went looking for firewood. It exploded and injured them badly,” he said.
Meanwhile, several attempts made by The Guardian to get the reaction of the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, on the phone at the time of filing this report was futile, as he could not pick his calls.
Meanwhile, security Expert Bulama Bukarti has asserted that Abuja is becoming one of the scariest cities in the world with kidnapper, one-chance robbers and other criminals ubiquitous in Nigeria’s political capital wreaking havoc on innocent citizens.
“In major junctions in Abuja, criminals and armed robbers masquerading as taxi drivers maim and rob Nigerians in a way that we have not seen before,” Bukarti said on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday.
“Abuja is becoming one of the scariest Federal Capital cities in the world.”
