Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, has commended the Nigerian army for their dedicated and selfless efforts in tackling the diverse security issues plaguing the country.
Abiodun further advocated for increased coordination among security agencies in the state to uphold a harmonious ambiance, assuring full-fledged support from his administration to facilitate the success of their endeavors in thwarting any security threats to the country.
The disclosure was made by the governor, through his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, on Saturday at the 2023 West African Social Activities of the Nigerian Army, 35 Artillery Brigade, convened at Alamala Barrack, Abeokuta.
Nigerian Army formations throughout the country organize WASA annually, offering officers and soldiers a temporary escape from their structured military activities, enabling them to mingle and unwind in a relaxed setting following a demanding year.
Abiodun charged Major General Aminu and the 35 Artillery Brigade to maintain their collaboration with other security agencies in driving out all security threats from the State.
The governor said, “I want to commend the 35 Artillery Brigade under the leadership of Major General Aminu for his effort to address the issue of insecurity concerning the state, and also call for more synergy among other security agents”.
“Of course, a peaceful environment is achievable through collaboration and synergy with the Nigerian Police Force and other security agents.
“I must say that your high sense of dedication and patriotism have helped to achieve a peaceful atmosphere where people feel secure to go out for their daily activities.

“I want to assure you that our government will continue to provide all the necessary support for you to carry out your responsibilities in protecting the life and property of our law-abiding citizens in the state.
“To all the personnel of 35 Artillery Bridgage, I want you to know that the Nigerian Army is indeed the hope of the nation, and it is a privilege to be part of the noble course, I want to urge you to remain focused and continue to discharge your duty professionally”.
During his introductory speech, Major General Aminu, as the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, affirmed the commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property for Ogun residents and Nigerians, while urging continuous collaboration through the sharing of information to combat criminal activities effectively.
Furthermore, Aminu reiterated the commitment to synergy with other security agencies, ensuring continued collaboration to eradicate terrorism, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality that could jeopardize the peace in Ogun State.
He praised all the officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their achievements in the past year and encouraged them to strive for even greater accomplishments in 2024.
Aminu reiterated the military’s dedication to bolstering its operations and placing the welfare of its personnel at the forefront.
Key moments of the annual event comprised performances by various cultural troupes and the recognition of outstanding personnel from the 35 Artillery Brigade through the presentation of awards, among other activities.
Dignitaries at the event were the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Capt. Rasheed Raji (Rtd.) former Military Administrator of Bauchi State, and Maj Gen Akinjobi (Rtd.) former Chief of Operations (Army), among other senior officers, both serving and retired, as well as heads of security agencies in the state.
