Sean Dyche Named Nottingham Forest Head Coach Until 2027

Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a contract running until the summer of 2027, following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

Dyche, 54, a former Forest youth-player, returns to the club he once served in his early years and arrives as the Reds’ third manager of the 2025-26 season. His appointment comes in the wake of a turbulent period for the club, which includes the dismissal of Postecoglou after just eight games and no wins.

Forest’s hierarchy emphasised that Dyche brings “the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement” to steer the club through its current challenge. During his managerial career, Dyche has been noted for building teams with strong defensive organisation and resilience — attributes Forest believe align well with their current squad and ambitions.

Joining Dyche will be familiar faces from his coaching past: former Forest players Ian Woan and Steve Stone will serve as part of his back-room staff, reinforcing continuity and linking to the club’s heritage.

The timing of the appointment is crucial: Forest sit 18th in the Premier League standings and are preparing for an upcoming European fixture against FC Porto in the Europa League, which will mark Dyche’s first competitive match in charge.

For the club, the message is clear — stability, experience and a return to fundamentals. Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis and his technical team have moved swiftly to end the managerial revolving door and provide the squad with a coach capable of navigating a demanding season.
