Champion Breweries: Revenue Skyrockets To 111% On Bullet Deal

Champion Breweries Plc reports a 111% revenue surge and 692% profit rise in H1 2025, driven by its acquisition of Bullet, Nigeria’s top ready-to-drink brand.

Champion Breweries Plc has reported a dramatic rise in earnings for the first half of 2025, with revenue climbing 111 percent and profit after tax surging 692 percent, following its acquisition of Bullet, Nigeria’s leading ready-to-drink alcoholic beverage brand.

The brewer said the acquisition, which expands its presence across 14 African markets, is expected to contribute over 70 percent of its total revenue and significantly boost foreign currency inflows.

Speaking during the ‘Facts Behind the Figures’ presentation at the Nigerian Exchange, Managing Director Dr. Inalegwu Adoga described the acquisition as a major step in the company’s transformation.

“This is a transformative moment for Champion Breweries. Bullet gives us scale, high-margin growth, and international reach,” Adoga said. “We are evolving from a strong regional brewer into a multi-market, multi-category growth platform with international relevance.”

To support the expansion, Champion Breweries has launched a ₦58 billion capital raise program, comprising a ₦42 billion public offer and a ₦16 billion rights issue. The funds will be used to finance the Bullet acquisition, strengthen working capital, and fund market expansion and sustainability initiatives.

The company also plans to channel part of the proceeds into technology and infrastructure upgrades, including Enterprise Resource Planning systems, returnable packaging, and renewable energy projects. Among its green initiatives are the conversion of its Uyo brewery to solar power, adoption of compressed natural gas for logistics, and reduction of plastic waste through innovative packaging.

David Butler, Managing Director of enJOYcorp, Champion’s majority shareholder, said the deal positions the brewer for long-term continental growth.

“Bullet expands Champion’s reach across Africa, diversifies its earnings into foreign currencies, and strengthens its portfolio with trend-driven products,” Butler noted. “It’s a landmark step towards building transformative African beverage brands that can compete globally.”

Investor confidence has surged alongside the company’s transformation strategy. Over the past year, Champion Breweries’ shares have gained 302 percent on the Nigerian Exchange, reflecting growing optimism about its regional ambitions and renewed growth prospects.
