Chinonye Chukwu, a Nigerian-American is being celebrated as the first Black woman to grab the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize for her US Dramatic entry titled “Clemency.”
Chukwu, a trained screenwriter, producer and director who has enjoyed several benefits and accolades. Her emerging the winner of the prestigious prize had notable film makers like Desiree Akhavan, Ryan Coogler,Damien Chazelle, Rebecca Miller and more big creative entity.
In view of this achievement, Chukwu has been picked to direct “A Taste of Power,” an adaptation of former Black Panther leader Elaine Brown’s memoir, the first and only female leader to lead the Black Panther Party.
