Ahead of the next year’s general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the launch of a portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff.
In a letter signed by A.T Yusuf, on behalf of the INEC Secretary on Wednesday, the commission, pointed out that the portal will be open to eligible applicants from 14 September to 14 December by 8:00 p.m.
According to the letter which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York, the exercise, which will be launched through INECPRES, will be opened to other categories of ad-hoc staff except for collation/returning officers.
The letter addressed to all Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), requested the cooperation of all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, among others, to attain the required number of ad-hoc staff per state.

‘To achieve the required number of ad-hoc staff per state, it is important that robust engagement/sensitisation by the Admin. Secs HOD EOPS/EOs & AEOS under the leadership of the RECS is commenced with the Authorities of Federal, State Tertiary Institutions and the NYSC offices (state/ Government levels),’ he said.
He also said that the INECPRES is available via two links located on the INEC website: www.inecnigeria.org (a link for the Mobile App and the other link is for the web portal).
Meanwhile, INEC had recently reiterated thatthe collation of results of the 2023 general elections will be done manually despite the adoption of electronic transmission of results.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye while speaking last Saturday maintained that the commission would transmit results from polling units to its result-viewing portal, IReV, as witnessed in some off season elections recently conducted, but that the Electoral Act was clear on how collation should be done
