The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has come out to assure Nigerians that the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Taoreed Lagbaja has what it takes to wipe out terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.
El-Rufai made this known in a Twitter post which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York on Monday.
According to him, Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and other criminal bodies are very scared of Lagbaja.
‘I know the new COAS very well. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja was my last GOC as governor of Kaduna State. He always leads from the front, anywhere he is.
‘He personally led troops to confront bandits in Kaduna State. He did the same in the north-east and south-east. The operatives of Boko Haram, IPOB, ESN, and the bandits know [him] well and fear him. He is the best choice as COAS,’ El-Rufai tweeted.

Meanwhile, residents of Imo State may be experiencing some relief on the issue of insecurity after the Nigerian Army 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze in Imo State came out to read the riot act to bandits operating in the state.
Brigadier General Usman Lawal who is the new Commander of the Nigerian Army 34 Artillery Brigade, Imo State, shortly after taking over at the Brigade Command headquarters in Obinze over the weekend, vowed to go after the bandits who have been disturbing the peace of the state and smoke them out of their hideouts.
According to him, this is to ensure the activities of the perpetrators are brought to the barest minimum, so Imo residents can go about their legitimate business peacefully.
In recent times, Imo State, just like other South-East states, has dealt with security challenges occasioned by the activities of gunmen and non-state actors.
