Justice Walter Onnoghen and the acting CJN, Justice Tanko Mohammed, have been served letters of query by the National Judicial Council. The two Judges are expected to react to the query as mandated by the NJC.
Onnoghen is expected to answer to the allegations of failing to declare all his assets and why the acting CJN, Mohammed, accepted President Muhammadu Buhari’s offer of being sworn in without the recommendation of NJC as ordered by the Constitution.
A dismissal of the two Judges will pave way for the most senior supreme court Judge, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour of Lagos State will assume the position of Chief Justice of Nigeria.
