The details of NATO and US President Donald Trump recent meeting on Middle East tension have emerged.

The Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg had a phone call with US President Donald Trump on developments in the Middle East.

In a tweet on its verified page, NATO said Trump and Stoltenberg discussed the situation in the region and NATO’s role.

Both parties agreed that NATO could contribute more to regional stability and the fight against international terrorism.

The tweet read: “Trump asked the Secretary General for NATO to become more involved in the Middle East.

“They agreed that NATOO could contribute more to regional stability and the fight against international terrorism.

“They also agreed to stay in close contact on the issue as NATO plays a key role in the fight against international terrorism, including through training missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and as a member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.”

The calls came following Iranian missile attacks on US bases in Iraq by Iran on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has said that the Ukrainian airliner, which crashed shortly after takeoff in Tehran, was shot down by an Iranian missile.
