Prince William Opens New Emergency Hospital In UK
Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has opened an emergency COVID-19 hospital in Birmingham.

He opened the NHS Nightingale Hospital via video link.

The site is the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

The hospital, which has a 500-bed capacity, was built in eight days.

However, its bed space can be expanded to 1,500, if necessary.

It is the second hospital to be opened of the seven being constructed around England.

The seven hospitals were built in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, which, so far, has killed nearly 13,000 people in Britain.

More than 400 civilian contractors were involved in its building.

Military personnel and about 500 clinical staff were also involved.

William is the Duke of Cambridge.
