Russia Posts Another Humongous Virus Number For 6th Day
Russia posted yet another mind-boggling 10,699 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Friday.

It was the sixth successive day that the country has posted such humongous number, starting from Sunday.

The national total is now 187,859 cases with 1,723 deaths, 98 of which happened in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday, the country reported 11,231 cases, the highest daily cases so far.

The successive high numbers appear to confirm the statement by the mayor of Moscow that over 300,000 people in his city have been infected with the virus.

“The fact that we have identified so many patients is not a minus, but a huge plus,” Sergei Sobyanin said on state television.

“Obviously, there are even more really sick people in the city. According to screening studies, they are in the region of 2 to 2.5 percent of the total population of Moscow, in terms of numbers it is about 300,000,” Sobyanin told Russia 24.

At the moment, Russia has overtaken France and Germany to become the fifth hardest-hit country in the world.

It is the fourth in Europe, after Spain, Italy and the UK.
