General Ozigi Loses N426m To Nigerian Govt
A Federal High Court in Lagos has forfeited ₦426.7 million traced to retired Brigadier-General John Onimisi Ozigi (rtd) to the Nigerian government.

Justice Muslim Hassan made the order following a motion filed by Ekereuwem Anana, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

An affidavit deposed by an EFCC operative, Clever Ibrahim, noted that Ozigi was a salary earner and a public officer with a monthly salary of about N750,000 and that monies linked to him were way above his income.

Respondents in the suit were Ozigi and a company Diamond Head Ventures and Dev. Company Ltd.

Hassan said that the EFCC was able to prove that money was crime proceeds.

He held that the respondent failed to explain why the sum should not be forfeited to the government.

“The application has met the conditions stipulated in Section 17 of the Advanced Fee Fraud and other related offences Act. The application is meritorious and it is hereby granted as prayed,” Hassan said.
