Credible reports reaching Africa Today News, New York show that the recently sacked National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Imo State Chapter workers are planning a showdown if their requests are continually rebuffed by the State Government.
According to the source, they have tried various means to reach the Imo state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma who continually snubs their call and refuses to officially reinstate their members after sacking and chasing them away from their place of work last month.
“We have been sending letters to the Governor and his personal assistants since June, yet we haven’t been summoned”
“We even begged the newly appointed Park Manager, Chief Ifeanyi Okafor of Lasbergas Nig. Ltd to help look into our case and give us back our jobs”
“We are suffering. Many of our members depend on this job as their only source of income”
When asked about their next course of action, our source clearly stated that there are plans to stage a massive peaceful protest in no distant future.
“We will march en masse to the Government house”
“Let everybody see us and hear our cries, at least the Governor would no longer deny our existence when we stage our protest”
“Enough is enough!”
