The Nigerian Army has appointed Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima as its Director of Public Relations.
Yerima will be replacing Brig.-Gen. Sagir Musa, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora in Niger State.
A top military personnel who spoke in anonymity told newsmen that the Chief of Army Staff said the move became necessary to reposition the information units of the Nigerian Army.
Before his new appointment, Yerima was at the PR unit of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
He joined the Nigerian Army in October 1989 and served as Aide De Camp to the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) between 1990 and 1993.
He was also Military Spokesperson for the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone from 2000 to 2002.
In 2003 he became the PRO to Chief of Army Staff and PRO to Chief of Defence Staff in 2005.
