Okorocha's Travail: Chief Ekeh Lauds Gov UzodinmaGovernor Hope Uzodinma, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Chief Better Ekeh

The atmosphere in Owerri, the capital of Imo State was very strained yesterday when the Imo State Police acting on the directives of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma arrested and detained one of the former Governors of Imo State and now a serving senator, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

The police on Sunday arrested Mr Okorocha during a fracas over the government sealing of a hotel, Royal Spring Palm Hotel, belonging to his wife.

After the intervention of other Southeastern Governors and some other political bigwigs in the country, Senator Rochas Okorocha was released from the police headquarters, Owerri, where he was briefly detained and asked to respond to a complaint filed against him by the Imo State Government. Both the police spokesperson in the state, Ikeokwu Orlando, and Senator Okorocha’s personal aide, Ebere Nzewuji, confirmed that the senator was released on Sunday night.

Amidst all of these, some Imolites showed their appreciation to the shared prosperity Government of  Governor Hope Uzodinma and his actions towards curbing what they described as a show of rascality and terrible decorum undeserving of a man in Senator Rochas Okorocha’s statue.

One of these was Chief Better Joseph Ekeh, a London based international entrepreneur and the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the renowned Alaowerri Restaurant in London located at 129 New Cross Rd, London, United Kingdom, and Ada Vinn Inn in Owerri. He made it clear that Governor Hope Uzodinma was a very honest and straightforward governor who would never stand and watch his government’s image being tarnished by never-do-wells who want to stand in the line of order. He also described Senator Rochas Okorocha as a former Governor who has forgotten that his tenure has been long gone.

In his words:

‘Senator Rochas Okorocha’s actions yesterday was very sad and terrible especially when it comes into retrospect that the said buildings were actually built on Government land with taxpayer’s money’

‘If Senator Rochas actually thinks that he is being ripped off, he can take the fight to the Imo State Government through the necessary means – The Court of Law and stop brandishing touts all around Imo State in the name of fighting for what is rightfully his.’

‘Governor Hope Uzodinma on his part once again has proven that Imo State is in very capable hands and we are sure that it is only him who can redeem Imo State’s tarnished image and restore her former glory’.
