Kidnappers Of Imam Collect N2m, Rice, Make More Demands

 The kidnappers of an Islamic cleric are demanding an additional payment of ₦2.5m despite paying ₦2 million ransom, as well as two bags of rice, drugs, and drinks to the abductors of the Chief Imam of Yangoji Central Mosque in Kwali Area Council.

 A family member of the cleric who spoke to reporters anonymously stated the abductors insisted on collecting N5m before the victim and one of his sons would regain their freedom.

 He disclosed that the family had sourced ₦2m, saying two bags of rice and drinks, as well as drugs worth ₦42,000, were sent to the kidnappers in a forest at Sadauna in Kogi LGA of Kogi State.

 He explained that, “Despite all these, they still insisted that the family must bring the remaining balance of N2.5m before they will release the chief imam.”

 The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, said the command was not aware of the matter.

In a related development eight of the persons who were kidnapped last Tuesday in Itapaji-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, have all been freed and have been reunited with their families after the abductors reportedly collected a sum of ₦2.5 million, a pack of cigarette, and one pack of tin milk to release the victims.
